Four Wonderful Years!

Yesterday was our anniversary. The big 04 mark! :) We actually got to go on a romatic date! Thanks to Darla, Cassidy and Brandon for watching Kate. Chris won $100 gift card to Boulevard Steakhouse at a raffle for his work (thanks Momma & Pappa C for the raffle tickets!) so that's where we headed to for our lovely evening. Man, dinner was AWESOME!! The food was great and the experience was so worth it. Luckily we had the gift card because dinner was pretty pricey. Who would have thought $100 could go so fast?!? :)

After dinner, I called Darla while we were heading back to her house to pick up Kate and they were having so much fun at the park that Darla told us to go shopping for a while. So, to add to the romance of the evening, we headed to Walmart! (of all places, why did we choose Walmart?!?) After Walmart and Braums for some milk, we picked Kate up and spent the rest of the evening home. What a great day!

On top of all that fun, Chris got me 4 roses (4 years = 4 roses), a new swimming suit (yeah!!!! It's cute and modest! I'm so excited!) and Pride and Prejudice - the 5-hour long one that he said he'd never get me, but he did!!! For Chris, it was a new Garmin GPS system that I must say is pretty spiffy. He deserves it after all the work I've put him through the past few years! I love you babe! Happy anniversary!

Home Improvement

I would be a very ungrateful wife if I didn't give a little shout out about my husband's handiwork. We've recently completed two projects in our home. We tiled our laundry room and put in a storm door. I absolutely love my new laundry room and door! They both look great!

Here's a picture of Chris drilling the first hole for the new door. We estimated that it would take about 2 hours to complete...have you ever heard anyone say you should plan on twice the time that you think it will take you? Yeah, that's a good idea because it took us a good 4 hours before it was done. But it looks great, don't you think?!

Here's a pic of our new laundry room. We actually finished it a few weeks ago, but I've been lazy and haven't posted any pictures of the finished product. It's such an awkward room that it's hard to get a full picture but here it is:
This picture was taken during the grouting process. Looks good, huh? I promise I'll keep it clean, honey!! :)
Next up on the to-do list: a digital thermostat, molding for the laundry room floor, and a new back patio!! Should keep us busy!

Monkey Business

Kate has recently discovered one of Chris' stuffed animals. She LOVES it!! If she's fussy or grumpy, all we have to do is pull the monkey out and she is happy. She smiles at it, slobbers all over it and tries to eat it. Too bad it won't fit in the diaper bag for church! :) Here's a couple pictures of the two monkeys playing together.

"I'll buy you three or four of your diamonds if you buy me one of my diamonds"

Those are my husband's words to me last night. I knew it was too good to be true but thought the topic would be worth pursuing. (Who can pass up an offer for 4 diamonds for the price of one?!?) Apparently, one of Chris' diamonds is a Toyota Supra from Diamond Motorworks. They range in price from about $30,000 to about $60,000. Needless to say, I don't think either one of us is going to get the diamonds we want any time soon. :)

Pigtails & cell phones

I sure do like to post pictures of my little girl. Here are her first pigtails! Isn't she cute??!! They kinda look more spikey than anything and I'm not sure that she cared for them, but they're fun for Mommy! Oh yeah, the way I got her to sit still for this picture (which is getting harder and harder) is that I gave her my watch to play with. Whoever says a baby has an attention span of a minute hasn't seen Kate play with my watch. It will entertain her for like 15 minutes at a time! It's great!

Other big news, I know you're thinking, "what's bigger than pigtails?". We're going to Utah! Yeah!! Chris and I are so excited. We're hoping to get to see family and some old friends/roommates while we're there but best of all, we get to see Stacey and Andy! Uncle Andy just got home from Iraq and he has never met Kate before. We're super excited to stay with them and hang out for a while. Second-best of all is that Chris has a mission reunion. He hasn't been to one since he's been home so he's excited to see some old companions and his president again. We'll be there for just a few days so we'll have a busy time getting it all in, but it will be worth it! Yeah!! Here's a picture of Kate talking to Aunt Stacey on the phone. She liked it a little too much. I think we may be in trouble when she's a teenager!

Summer Fun!

The weather has been very beautiful lately (and hot!) & we have taken advantage of it! Kate got a new swing for our backyard and she LOVES it!

We also took Kate swimming for her first time ever. Here's her first reaction to the water. She liked it, but I think it will take a few times before she really learns to appreciate it.
Her first swimsuit!
Relaxing with Mom after playing with Daddy.
Kate also turned 8 months old! I can't believe it. Time flies so fast. Before we know it, we'll be throwing her first birthday party. This is a picture taken on her 8-month birthday. I was helping Chris with the tile in the laundry room & I was away from Kate for about 2 minutes. While I was gone, she pulled herself up on our fireplace. She's getting so big!!
Also, an update on our geometry problem. Our neighbor suggested that we lay a piece of paper in that spot and cut it to the size we need & then measure the tile off of the paper. Genius! Who needs geometry, anyway?! :)
