Bubbly Toes

Last night was so cool! Chris and I were in bed reading our scriptures and the baby was moving and kicking like crazy...as usual. But then he started pushing out really, really hard. Unusually hard. So Chris started pushing back and playing with the little guy. Then we started playing the guessing game.... is it a knee...a foot...maybe an elbow? We were feeling around and realized that we were playing with his toes! It was soooo cool! I got to feel my son's toes! They were tiny, but man, his legs are strong. It's a little weird to see a huge bump stick out of my tummy. I wish I could describe what my belly looked like. It was almost like the movie "The Coneheads" except it was my stomach....and the "cone" kept moving around. I keep saying that this baby brings new meaning to the term "belly dancing." It's weird but awesome at the same time. I can't wait to meet the little guy!

My Little Hunter

I walked in the door after some target practice. Kate looked an me and just grinned. She proceded to point and the bow and jabber, then I grinned :) With my smile Chrissy knew exactly what I was thinking, I could see it in her eyes, and she chuckled.


Who says she's too young to learn? Look how good she did and how happy she is!! Daddy's little girl! All we have to work on now is her strength to pull back a 60# bow.

What we've been up to

Aside from dodging tornados, we've been having a grand old time here in Oklahoma lately!

Kate has discovered the art of sidewalk chalk decorating.


I've been doing a few Valentine's crafts. (Thanks Kristen and Pottery Barn Kids for the idea!)

We've been taking bubble baths.

And getting ready for brother to come. Only 4 weeks left!! (Kate is a wondeful clothes-folder, in case you can't tell!)

In between ice storms and tornados the weather has been beautiful! We've been spending some quality time outside soaking up some vitamin D. We have a rabbit that lives in our backyard that Kate likes to visit every day. We also have a ball that some friends gave Kate and we've been practicing her soccer skills. Watch out Aunt Kim, you've got some competition coming! Kate also went on her first real walk the other day. She walked for probably 6 blocks. It took forever & wore the little chica out, but it was worth it!

I also had another ultrasound done to check on Baby Boy. My doctor wanted to check and make sure he wasn't getting too big. He's 5lbs 12oz already! We figure that will put him at about 8 1/2 pounds when he's born. Not too bad. He's also head down (good boy!) and has super (I mean SUPER) chubby cheeks. We even thought we could see a little hair on the back of his head. We think he'll look like Kate.

Chris has been working hard at school and work. In his spare time he does some target practicing with his bow in the backyard. He's a pretty good shot, if I do say so myself!

This picture was back in July so Kate was about 9 months old. Chris stuck the sweat band on her head and the two of them were crawling around the house chasing each other. My, how time flies!

Whitetail Woes

I'm addicted...no, not to the bong like Michael Phelps. I had the best experience these last few months bow hunting here in in Oklahoma for whitetail deer. Thanks to a good friend Gary (a drug rep that comes into the office) who introduced me to archery hunting, I have a new addiction and passion. Sitting in a tree stand or in a ground blind and seeing deer come within 20 yards adrenaline flows through the body. It's exhilarating!!! I shot a buck my very first day! I learned the hard way that when you go, you take a camera! I have been several times since then, but only shot the one. Now that the deer archery season is a month past I am having withdrawals!

Before the season was over Gary saw the thrill and excitement in my eyes so he lent me the bow I used to hunt with so I could hunt on the last day of the season and practice shooting during the off season. I have been practicing in our back yard with the thought that it would take the edge off...it has only made matters worse. Whitetail archery season begins again in October 2009! Until then I hope to join Gary hunting feral hogs (wild boar). I am a little nervous, the average weight of a boar is 150-200 pounds and their tusks range from 4-8 inches long. I will keep updating my hunting stories as they occur.

Chris and I were watching tv when this commercial came on. After a moment of silence Chris says "You know, there really are people like that." I about died laughing.

Yup, believe it or not, there really are people like that.
