Hayleigh, Hayden, & Washington

Here's a picture of my niece and nephew, Hayleigh and Hayden. They're so cute! I can't believe how huge they're getting!! What are their parents feeding them!

We get to see them soon! Chris, Kate & I are going to Washington in April. I'm so excited! I'll actually get to be with my family for my birthday! That hasn't happened in a very long time.

Restaurants

So, here's a little story about this weekend. If you read my last post about nights and napping, you would know that Kate gets a little fussy in the evenings. Well, this last weekend was Pennie's birthday so she made reservations at a very nice restaurant for her birthday dinner. To make a long story short, Kate was sooo fussy that we spent the whole time taking turns walking her around the parking lot, looking at the fish tank, etc. trying to get her to sleep. So, Chris and I decided that our dining out for dinner days are over for a while...unless, of course, we find a babysitter.

Nights and Naps

So, I think I jinxed myself. I've been bragging about how good a sleeper Kate is. Sigh...for the last few weeks Kate has been sleeping all night long. We're talking like in bed by 9:00 and sleeping until 7:00. It's been wonderful! However, the trade-off has been that she won't take naps very well during the day. She naps for like 30 minutes at a time and then she spends a good part of every evening fussy because she's so tired.

Well, for the last two nights we're back to getting up around 3:30am or so and she's wide awake and smiling. (not so cute at 3am) Plus, she's still not napping well. I'm hoping that this is because she's got a bit of a cold and we can go back to our sleeping through the night routine soon. Either way, I don't want this to last too long.

So, this morning I made a deal with Kate. She can either a) sleep all night and take mini-naps during the day, or b) get up once a night and take at least one good long (like 2-3 hour) nap during the day. Those are her choices. She can't have both. I explained this to her thoroughly so there should be no confusion. I also explained to her that if I were to choose, I would take option A. Think that will work? :)

Pictures of Kate

Here's the thumb sucker herself and a few other pictures from the past few days.

She loves her Daddy!
Ok, so this probably would have been better in a slideshow but I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet.

Thumb sucking

So it's official. Kate is a thumb-sucker. Yesterday she discovered her thumb and it hasn't left her mouth since. (Ok, so that's a bit of an exaggeration). She's loved to suck on her hands and fingers for a while now, but yesterday she found her thumb. Now everytime she's upset or tired or just wants to suck on something, she sticks that thumb in her mouth. Sigh....hopefully it won't be that hard to break her of that habit when she's older.

Kate

Ok, so I'm obsessed with my little girl. But who can blame me? She's sooo cute! She is almost 4 months old now and she's growing like a little weed. Her smile just melts my heart.

I'm a blogger

Well, it's official....I'm a blogger. Several of my friends have blogs of their own and I really enjoy looking at their blogs. So, I thought that I'd create one of my own and see how I like it.
Here's a family picture that we took just before Christmas. As you can see, Kate still needs a bit of practice on her modeling skills. :) You can't tell on the picture but her pajamas say "silent night?" on the front and "up all night" on the back. Then the little feet say 99% nice 1% naughty. So cute!
